Description: "During 1987 Heindel worked with the former London City Ballet. At the time they were hehearsing a new ballet entitled 'The Garden of Eros', a one act piece that was choreographed by Marguerite Porter. In addition to creating paintings and drawings that charted the making of the ballet Heindel was also reponsible for the set designs. His thoughts were to incorporate impressions of roses onto the stage, a perfect motif for a garden of love. References to the flower are to be found in many of the 'Eros' paintings.
Jane Sanig danced the central role and thus Heindel frequently observed her in rehearsal. As Jane recalls 'Robert would attend class and our rehearsals as 'Eros' progressed, I'd often be wearing a very old and tatty all-in-one, he would remark just how much he loved those pants so one day I have them to him!""
Not only did Heindel create a painting and sketch specifically featuring the pants, he also applied the real thing to a panet to which he added a portrait of Jane in a shadowy studio setting."
