Scottish Ballet

Working during the period of his son's illness and immediately afterwards yielded emotively charged images that remain amongst his most renknowned. 'Scottish Shadows' - based loosely around The Scottish Ballet, but wholly around the artist, presented structures of the past, floomarks, and the enigma of a a future, shadows. Out of the pure shadows evolved a sequence of paintings and drawings snspired by an intensely emotional pas de deux from a ballet 'What to do till The Messiah Comes' for Heindel, this paralleled the brief period of married life Toby and his wife Ellen shared.
