Robert Heindel American Painter (1938 - 2005) Mixed Media on Vellum 18 inches (w) x 24 inches (h) In preparation for his first major exhibition in Tokyo (Takishimaya Gallery 1992) Heindel visited what were to him the familiar surroundings of Covent Garden in order to see the two celebrated dancers of that time, Darcey Bussell and Viviana Durante. Impressions of both were to form the eventual central suite of works in Japan. In the depths of the British winter, London was typically downcast and dull. Throughout the afternoon rehearsal that Heindel observed no sunlight shone through the vast studio windows and thus the reference to this fact in his title.
